Magazine Layouts
Typography Project
InDesign
This project was given to me in my typography class. We were given content and information to place in a two page layout. I made two final pieces, one was a two-column layout and the other was a three-column. Some of the challenges I had going through this project was coming up with a way to fit what I wanted while working with the constraints of just two pages. I found it difficult to play around with the images while having the text still being readable, but in the final I came up with some nice solutions to that. In the future, I would like to try more with having more go into the second page and playing around with using the first page to fit more text. In the project I focused on having one page that would stand out, and then, the second was about fitting in the main body of the text, but I think there could be a way to fit nice images on both pages and balancing out the text more. Mainly, with this project I refined my skills with typesetting and working in InDesign. I feel like this was a great project for understanding better how to work with type, and just how important it is to have good type design–because you can have very nice graphics but completely lack good typography, and it definitely throws things off. I would also say that I have found in previous projects and in this one that I enjoy working with typography.
